Causeymire Wind Farm in Caithness has been operational since 2004

As it becomes vital to combat climate change by producing more electricity from renewable sources, allowing fossil fuels to be phased out, we are proposing to repower the wind farm with fewer, larger wind turbines which can produce electricity more efficiently. Our proposal is for up to 13 wind turbines with an installed capacity of around 6.4 MW each which will replace the existing wind farm.

This would bring the total installed capacity of the wind farm up to around 83.2 MW, helping to meet the Scottish Government’s targets for reducing emissions of greenhouses gases and powering Scotland with clean, green energy.

83.2 MW of generating capacity

Estimated annual generation 224,626 MWh

Equals the yearly consumption of 69,350 households

98,162 tons of CO2 avoided annually (if produced with coal)
